Following the decision of the Campus France Labelling Committee on 28 May 2020, the Université Lumière Lyon 2 was awarded the Label "Bienvenue en France" for a period of 4 years as recognition of its welcome services for international students. This label corresponds to a level 2 out of 3 on the labelling scale. Our establishment has met more than 15 indicators out of 20.
This label recognizes our University’s commitment to welcoming and supporting international students, making it one of the 89 higher education institutions having obtained this recognition, amongst more than 3,500 public or private higher education institutions in France.
- Criteria
- The aim of the "Bienvenue en France" label is to attest to the quality of the welcoming services for international students offered by French higher education institutions. The label is also an asset to increase the visibility of French universities and institutes abroad. It is awarded through an online self-assessment and a file of evidence based on 5 criteria:
- Quality of accessibility and information
- Quality of welcoming facilities
- Accessibility of the academic offer
- Quality of life on campus and the quality of housing
- Quality of post-graduate follow-up

- The Université Lumière Lyon 2 is indeed committed to welcoming, guiding, and supporting international students. The launch of the International Student Office confirms our university’s policy in terms of improving the quality of welcoming international students.
The International student office offers linguistic and methodological support as well as social and cultural activities, and helps students with their administrative procedures and to find accommodation. Students are welcomed by an international and multilingual team, capable of answering questions in French, Portuguese, English, German, Spanish and Russian.
Our university has put in place various concrete actions to improve the welcoming of its international students, such as:- Welcome meetings
- Free Language as a Foreign Language courses and intensive French language courses
- An international student handbook and accommodation guide
